Death Match Server Acting Funny

The DM server has been really odd lately.

1.) Gun skins/sounds and don't appear to be working. This is a relatively new problem. I also cross checked to see if it was just me by logging onto Noob Unlimited and my skins appear to work fine.
2.) Lag is terrible. I have dumped entire clips into the back of someones head form 5 feet away and nothing happens.
3.) Rates seem off. I have seen players with rates as low as 2000. It seems like the instant I see a player I am already dead with zero time to respond.

All of these little things make DM very difficult to play on. Has anything happened to the server lately? It does not feel like it is even the same server.

Contrary to some other admins opinion's *ahem* rates do affect the clients registry quite a bit... What a lower rate feels like is artificial high ping and choke, because essentially at 2000 rate thats sub 56k dial-up rate.... the sucks...

It has always been my imperative on any 66 tick server to kick anyone using a rate under 10000. It can as you've noticed really affect the opponents game play experience.

I've Always used the explaination of "improper rates" or "Invalid rates change and rejoin...

I thought we were rate enforcing so even if someone had a very high or very low rate it would be adjusted to set max/mins by our server.

Yes.
Server enforces the proper rates.
Another thing to check however, is your Interp.
go to !rate, and heck your inter.
On a 66 tic server, it should be 0.032***
and on a 100 tic 0.019*****
anything different = you will not get your registry.

Well... The DM server just crashed, so ya, I would say something is wrong.

Also a lot of people are running cl_cmdrate and cl_updaterate in the 20's-30's when they should be 66. Is this corrected server side, or should we be kicking/warning people that have odd rates like this?

Anyone else have problems with their skins? My main concern here is my gun sounds are not working... Which is obiously really annoying.

I have to agree with King, Harrowing and Hyperion on this one. Im finding myself more and more on other deathmatch servers. Even with higher latency in other DM servers like Firewall i have smoother gameplay and better registry without tweaking with my rates.

In Boom my gameplay experience is waay better and omg or king can attest to this since i have seen them there a few times as well. Even with people spamming with the lawnmower i have near perfect registry and no lag what so ever.We really have to look into this.

have to agree.. our DM runs extremely choppy compared to other DM servers.
